This machine should be used with sand specifically suitable for sand coffee preparation. We do not recommend using sand collected directly from beaches, construction sand or sand from an unknown source.
Suitable sand for this type of equipment is generally fine quartz or silica sand that has been selected, cleaned and sifted, with a consistent grain size suitable for heat transfer. It must be completely dry and free from stones, metal, glass, organic material, chemical residues and other impurities.
In Brazil, look for suppliers that specifically offer sand for sand coffee preparation or sand suitable for Turkish coffee machines. Search terms such as “areia para café na areia”, “areia para máquina de café turco”, “areia de quartzo fina para café” or “areia de sílica fina para café” may also be useful. Always confirm with the supplier that the sand is suitable for this type of equipment.
Using suitable sand is essential for proper heat distribution around the cezves and for the correct operation of the machine. The sand should be kept clean and dry during use.
